The Perfect Bible Reading Plan
ALVIN HELMS, PASTOR, CARLSBAD COMMUNITY CHURCH, CARLSBAD, CA
I know. “Perfect” may be a bit of an overstatement. However, I want to challenge you to consider reading the Bible all the way through beginning in 2017. One of the best reading plans I have used is a booklet called, A Light Unto My Path: An Approach to Daily Bible Reading by [retired CCCC pastor] Rev George Allen.
There are several reasons that I think you would really benefit from using this plan to read through the entire Bible in a three-year period.
- It is a very doable plan. Each day’s reading consists of one or two chapters of the Bible. The readings require a modest and steady commitment which can be paired with daily prayer to promote a balanced devotional life for individuals, couples and families.
- It is a long-term lifestyle change. The goal is to make Bible reading a part of your every day life. You will no doubt miss a day or more from time to time which is completely normal. You can just start again on the date for the day when you return to the reading schedule.
- It will very likely change your life. Steady exposure to God’s Word will change your life! This simple Bible reading plan has been used to bring spiritual growth and renewal to many churches and individuals over the years.
So plan now to begin this Bible Reading Challenge in 2017. You can join me and many others who have come to love this balanced approach to daily Bible reading.
“The vigor of our spiritual life will be in exact proportion to the place held by the Bible in our life and thoughts.”
—George Muller
