Congregational Institute Classes

Members of the Conference are invited to attend classes sponsored by the Congregational Institute based at the Central Schwenkfelder Church in Lansdale, PA.

Chaplaincy class – This course will be composed of readings, an oral report, and practical experience in a long-term care, nursing, or hospital setting, and can be taken for 1, 2, or 3 credits (accredited through Missio Seminary) or for enrichment. The class meets in person or on Zoom on Sep. 10, Sep. 24, Oct. 8, and Oct. 22 from 6:30-8:30 pm. Our teacher will be Dr. Brad Mellon.

Greek reading class – As a class we will be reading David Allen Black’s book, It’s Still Greek to Me. We will also be reviewing paradigms, translating, and analyzing various sections of the Gospel of John. This class can be taken for 1, 2, or 3 credits (accredited through Missio Seminary) or for enrichment. Dr. Brad Mellon and I will be teaching the class. It will meet over Zoom on Sep. 25, Oct. 9, Oct. 23, Nov. 6, Nov. 20, Dec. 4 from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm.

All of Church History in a Day – Dr. Tom Marinello, an experienced educator from Tyndale Theological Seminary in the Netherlands, will teach the class on January 25, 2025. It will meet in person and over Zoom from 9:00 am-4:00pm.
1 Peter – Our June one-week class will be with Dr. Scott Hafemann from St. Andrews University (Scotland). He will be teaching on 1 Peter from June 2-6, 2025.
