Blessings In The Nehemiah Summit
John Kimball, Director of Church Development
The 2024 Nehemiah Summit in Celebration, Florida was an incredible experience. Thirty eight people joined together for worship, encouragement, and critical teaching on disciple making in our suspicious and skeptical world. Participants reported that timing of this year’s Summit was God-ordained. Not your typical conference, participants were directly involved in how the Summit moved forward in each plenary session. Topics included Overcoming Fear in Ministry, Revealing Jesus to Skeptical & Suspicious People, Dealing with Internal Obstacles to Disciple Making, Maintaining a Forward Focus in Disciple Making, and Understanding How Identity Drives Everything in Disciple Making. And four breakout sessions gave important tactical dialog to this year’s theme of Becoming Kingdom Influencers.
Nearly half of the participants stayed an extra day to partake in a very special practicum with our keynote speaker in his own ministry context of Epcot at Walt Disney World. The better part of a day was spent honing our skills of exegeting the communities we’re called to reach, learning simple ways to start spiritual conversations, and becoming more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading in witnessing. All these lessons and more were literally practiced that day with debriefing and reflection. It was a powerful experience.
I would like to thank my Church Development Team, as well as Steven Barr, Josiah Kimball, and Stephen O’Guin for making this time such a success.
I hope you will join us next year, April 28-30, in Newburyport MA! We’ll be joined by Dr. Tom Johnston, Dr. Deryk Richenburg, and Pastor Tim McGinnin as we learn about a powerful new disciple-making tool, The Alignment Disciple Making Process. Be watching the FORESEE Update later this year for details.
