The Prayer Calendar
Ron Hamilton – Conference Minister
We distribute a prayer calendar every year as a part of our Fall mailing. The Monday Prayer Guide is prepared for members of the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference to use each Monday (or day of choice), to lift up the CCCC and its leaders in prayer. The guide is a reminder of the broad ministry of the CCCC and the many people who serve in this work. It is updated annually and contains the names of every staff member, Officer, and Committee member.
The #1 Guiding Value of the CCCC is “A culture of believing prayer and intercession.” We understand that this is the Lord’s work and not ours. We need His strength and encouragement to carry out our ministry. Our leaders begin every meeting with a time of prayer and sharing. Our Regional Pastors offer seminars on prayer to develop the prayer life of our churches. We have a special emphasis on prayer at every annual gathering.
We recently lost a long-time and faithful member of the Conference, Rev. Dr. Art Gay. Art used the Monday Prayer Guide on a regular basis. He would often send me a note on Monday, letting me know that he was praying for me and the ministry of the CCCC. I’ve heard from others that Art would sometimes call a Conference leader or staff member and tell them that he was praying for them. I was deeply encouraged by his notes and others have been also. Art served as a great example of a prayer warrior who cared about the Conference and prayed for her ministry.
The Monday Prayer Guide encourages weekly prayer…
- On the first Monday of the month, pray for the Board of Directors, Conference Officers, and Staff as they serve and minister in the CCCC Way of Life.
- On the second Monday, pray our ministry of Church Development and for the Conference Administration committees, as they serve to accomplish the work of God’s Kingdom n and through our body.
- On the third Monday, pray for our ministry of Church Multiplication and for the Conference Services committees, as they carry out tasks to serve and minister in our Conference.
- On the fourth Monday, pray for our ministry of Conference Care, as well as regional and local areas as CCCC pastors and church leaders are drawn together for fellowship and mutual encouragement.
- On the fifth Monday, pray for many of the special activities and needs of the CCCC.
Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” God hears and answers every prayer that is offered in the name of Jesus on behalf of the ministry of the CCCC. Prayer is an important part of the shared life and shared ministry of our fellowship.
