China Travels

CONNECTING WITH NEW BELIEVERS AND MINISTRY COLLEAGUES.

We will arrive in Hong Kong on June 11 at the start of our trip through parts of China.  Why are we going to China?  We’re encouraged by our leaders to visit every few years to learn what’s happening first hand and to connect with new believers and ministry colleagues.

We want to better understand the situation in China so we can (1) reach out to those who come to the USA and (2) prepare Returnees to go back and serve the church in China.  We went three years ago and a lot has changed since then, including some new restrictions.

In 2016 and 2017, we helped with Returnee trainings at the Pittsburgh Chinese Church Oakland (PCCO) and we want to connect with many of those Returnees to learn how we can do a better job of helping future returnees/disciples.  Also, we want to encourage and challenge them to keep striving to know God more deeply.  Our 2nd goal is to connect with Returnee leaders and learn from them.  Finally, we’ll see some of the seekers from the Happy English Corner and Bilingual Bible Study from 2009-2017 and try to connect them with Christians.

We plan to visit 12 cities so need your prayer to not only use our time wisely, but to make sabbath time too.

Sheryl and Esther return to the USA on July 2 while Corrie and I stay to meet with others.   On July 20, Corrie will fly to another city in China to teach English and I’ll fly home.  Pray for Corrie as she teaches English to Chinese children and learns from more experienced Teachers of English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL)—which she plans to study in the fall when she starts college.  Thank God for this opportunity for her to minister, learn and be stretched.  On July 29, Corrie will fly home, switching planes in two China cites.  Pray for her as she travels alone in China.  Thank God she knows enough Chinese language and is confident enough to travel by herself.  If you want to hear more about Corrie’s ministry and schooling, please go to partnerhub.omf.org/serveCM1
